Dutch Oven Bread

Updated: Jan 12

Hello Lovlies!!

I love this bread recipe its so far one of my favorites! Its got a wonderful texture perfect for sandwiches and grilled cheese. It holds together so nicely for all your culinary needs!

This bread is very beginner friendly and bakes up consistently time after time!

So lets get started! I use a stand mixer with a dough hook. You can kenned by hand or use a large wooden spoon for the first part of this recipe. Start by adding 1 1/4 cup warm water to a large mixing bowl. Add in 2 Tbs of honey and 1 packet of active dry yeast and let sit for five minutes till yeast has puffed up. If you don't have honey you can substitute it for 2 Tbs granulated sugar.

Transfer yeast mixture to stand mixer add in 4 eggs and set to stir. Add in 4 cups of all purpose flour 1 cup at a time. This dough is very wet it will come together more after shaping. Lightly flour large bowl and set aside. Flour all sides of dough and transfer to prepared bowl. Cover with tea towel and set in warm place to rise for 1 hour.

Lightly flour your work surface and turn out dough. Use a dough scraper to roll dough across surface forming a ball until surface of dough is no linger sticky. Flip dough over and we're going to twist and tuck to form a ball. With both hands on either side of the dough ball twist lightly and tuck the bottom under by lightly lifting. Place dough back in proofing bowl and place in warm spot to rise for another hour.

After proof repeat the shaping process by twisting and shaping be carful not to punch the dough. Preheat oven to 450 and place dutch oven with lid in to warm. Once your dough has been shaped place floured tea towel in proofing bowl. Place dough smooth side down on bowl and leave to rise while oven preheats.

Once oven is to temperature its time to bake! Turn dough into dutch oven by grabbing the sides of tea towel. Once flipped the smooth side will be facing up. Score if desired. Put lid on and bake for 30 minutes then remove lid and bake for another 10 minutes to brown.

Leave to rest for 15-30 minutes.

Slice and enjoy!!
